Competing adversary hypothesis

First, let’s establish what is correct regarding what is commonly alleged about Nocardia.

Immunological, epidemiological and geological importance

Nocardia is often characterized as an opportunistic disease, since it is taught it occurs only in immune-compromised or vulnerable populations (malnourished, etc.), however this is a generalization that is normally extracted from Nocardia Farcinia, a species more present in Europe.

Therapeutics

  • The standard dosage of TMP-SMX in Brazil’s market and medical practice establishes 2 x dosages every 12 hours (1600 mg /320 mg) as the ceiling of most treatments when state-of-art guidelines establish this is under the minimum dosage recommended 1
    • For a 82 kg patient, this means the recommended minimum dosage is 10 mg/kg IV/Oral. In standard oral tablets this means 5.125 tablets per day, the max dosage is around 7.68 tablets per day, a 4 tablet dosage per day is insufficient.
    • However the own SOTA paper says the real dosage proper dosage is unknown, and lower dosages have been used effectively; however the purpose of this guideline is to establish the Brazilian standard treatment is unfit for the Nocardia guidelines for treatment.2
